Friday was a combined total of eleven hours working two different jobs. Never again…. Ended up being short-staffed at Lakeshore because one of the ladies got a call and had to leave early and the manager sent one of the others to drive her to the hospital. This left two of us plus manager, yet somehow we managed to finish everything and leave thirty minutes early.
Saturday was spent on the Wal-Mart computers doing various training modules. I have to go in today to finish them. There’s only one problem: it’s President’s Day which means all buses/trains are on Sunday service. This means that none of the ones I take to work are running. I have to take the train out partway and ride my bike the rest of the way. Wouldn’t be so bad except that it snowed this morning. Also have to try to leave early because I get off at nine and last inbound train leaves at 9:03. Can’t get ten blocks in three minutes. Can’t even get out of the building in three minutes!
Daniel and I were hanging out with a couple of people at the Roasting Company Saturday night. All was well until this woman comes up and says that Daniel’s shirt makes her sad. (He was wearing tie-dye.) She launches into this story about how she was 7 1/2 months pregnant when she saw the Grateful Dead for the last time about a month before one of the guys in it died. Even her unborn baby was getting into the show by kicking away to the music or so she said. Even now, nearly fifteen years later, it still upsets her greatly to see reminders. Quite bizarre encounter. She is what could be called a true believer, only her religion is the Grateful Dead.
Oh…I’m staff here now. I just finished my first review for them, I might cross-post it eventually. Also, despair.nu code is not up because it is messing up my sidebar and I can’t get to the site to get the html code.

Worked for 11 hours?! That’s crazy! How do you find the energy to cope?!
Rather “strange” encouter with that lady too. I’ve never had any encounters like that… perhaps my clothes I wear are too “boring”.

Haha I know all about the whole wal-mart training I went through a couple years myself. Yeah the despair link messes up my sidebar as well so I have to put up the html code. I might go to the review site and get my site reviewed and see how good I do lol

Geez! That’s a long day. I know how you feel. I do a 13 hour day on a Thursday - worst day of the week!
I hope you made it to the bus in 3 minutes!! hehe. I’m sure if you spoke to your manager they’d let you leave a bit earlier, just this once.
