Interview with Clem of Ohclementine.com

This is the second in (hopefully!) a long series of interviews. The questions were randomly selected from a list of more than sixty questions using Random.org’s number generator. If you’re interested in participating, please leave a comment on this entry. This week’s interviewee is Clem.

1.Please recommend one dish that is native to your area.

Toronto is one big mix of culture; we don’t have any ethnic dishes. You can get every kind of food here, which I think is amazing. When I eat out, it’s almost always sushi, but I like Asian food in general - Thai, Chinese, Indian, etc.

2.Do you believe that marijuana should legalized for medical reasons?

I don’t have a big problem with marijuana in general. Having seen the effects of worse drugs (cocaine mainly), I think we should be focusing more on those drugs. If it can be used responsibly in medical environments, I don’t have a problem with it.

3.What is the one cause you feel most strongly about?

I have strong opinions about everything; it’s hard to pick just one cause. I’ve been hearing a lot about people who believe that global warming is nothing to worry about and that we’re wasting time and money; personally I think that, even if there wasn’t a problem, it isn’t hurting us to try to take care of the Earth.

4.Do you feel that your elected representatives represent your views? Why
or why not?

No, I’m not entirely happy with the Members of Parliament or Members of Provincial Parliament, which are the more local Canadian representatives. I know Canadian politics could be exponentially worse, but our system is flawed. I’m not well-versed in our politics, though, so I’m not the best person to ask if you want reasons or particularly educated answers.

5.What are your career goals?

I’m still undecided as to what I want to do with my life, which I actually blogged about fairly recently. I know I want to write, although I don’t know if I want to make a career out of it or do something else while trying to write on the side. I would love to have a novel published (I have a dream to have one published before I’m twenty, although at the rate I’m going I’m not sure if that’s going to happen), and of course I’d like to be successful at whatever I end up doing.

6.Do your friends and family know about your blog? If so, how do they feel
about it? If not, would you prefer that it remained that way?

My family knows and one of my close friends knows, but they don’t care too much either way. I’m not sure I’d want my other friends to know; it’s irrational, really, because I don’t write about anything I wouldn’t want them to know.

7.Do you have any pets? Please share pictures if you have them.

I don’t currently have any pets, although I’ve had two guinea pigs, ten hamsters, and too many fish to count. One of my guinea pigs, Winnie, was incredible; my family used to joke that she was part dog, to account for her uncanny cleverness and big heart. She’s still missed.

8.If a potential employer asked to see a sample of your writing, which of
your articles or blogs would you submit?

I would submit two blog entries (A Ballet-Dancing Firefighting Astronaut and Why Blog?) and two articles (Is Photography Art? and Unrequested Reviews)
