Exposed

I went to the library today to do some book returning and such. Also to pick up a copy of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (the only one I haven’t read). There were none. In fact, the only Harry Potter book available was the first one. Pottermania has taken over the building. The film center is doing a special advance screening of the movie soon with a bunch of pre-movie festivities. Tickets are $25 (is it worth it?) . The library has a bunch of merchandise for sale including replica wands and baby stuffed owls ( so cute!).

Luckily for my wallet, the little store was closed so I left and went to the Trax stop across the road. Only two cars and both were packed. Luckily I found a seat. Unfortunately it was diagonally across from a girl in a low-cut white shirt. Why was it unfortunate? Not only was she not wearing a bra, but her left boob was completely out. Not a good idea considering the amount of older perverts on public transportation in the late evening. I wanted to say something, but couldn’t figure out a tactful way to say it without drawing attention from other passengers. Then a big group of people came on including a group of bicyclists who completely blocked the door (completely disregarding the two bikes per end of car rule) and almost caused some people to miss the train. They filled the aisle and blocked view of her. Hopefully her companion noticed and said something to her about it…

Crazy Train

Get to the Trax station several minutes before it’s due to arrive. Usually it takes no more than a minute to a minute and a half for the train to arrive, get everyone boarded, and leave for the next stop. This time there was about five minutes of waiting after everyone had found a seat. Finally the operator comes on the intercom to inform us that there was a problem with the train ahead of us and we’d have to do a reverse run to a junction so we could switch tracks. Cue several minutes of people apparently incapable of deciding whether or not they want to stay on the train. Get off, get on, get off again. Train starts the reverse run and gets about halfway then stops again for several minutes. Apparently the problem is fixed, so we can go back the other way. Normally the ride between where I got on the train and the stop closest to home takes two minutes. This time it took twenty-five.

Thought my interview yesterday went pretty well. Guess I was wrong because I got a call this morning informing me I didn’t get the job. There was only one other candidate. She showed up to the interview in really ratty clothes, complained about the application, refused to fill out several parts of it and had a pretty bad attitude in general. Makes for a shitty feeling to be considered the worse candidate of the two….

Truncated

I recently restarted the rather masochistic trend of submitting this site to review sites. First of the bunch is from a fairly recent WPR named Truculent Reviews. First time I’ve received a review that I felt an immediate need to respond to. Forgive the sarcasm and the tl;dr-ness The review and comments below the cut. Will be moved to the site section soon.

No Notice Needed

Comments on a blog. Hits submit. Doesn’t see the automatically selected “notify of follow-up comments” box at the bottom until it’s too late. As far as I can see, there’s no way to turn off the notification. Hopefully, there’ll be an option to do so in one of the e-mails. It feels like a pretty useless option to me. Who would want to know about all the comments left in another person’s blog as they happened? Feels slightly stalkerish.

Went out to Wendover twice last week. No sign of the cheating dealer. Found $100 at the same casino where a chip of the same value was found my first night out.

The partner and I are selling glow sticks and bracelets at festivals and such this summer. Also collecting signatures to put a third party back on the ballot. The weather’s been pretty bad the last couple of days so both of those things are temporarily on hold.

Got a new phone as part of the switch from the recently merged orange company to the fave five company. My new Nokia 6133 has an mp3 player (that requires a separate kit to use -.-), camera (bad quality, very short recording times), FM radio (that won’t work) and a ton of other features. It also goes though battery power really quickly. I have to charge it every other day, and I almost never use it! Fancier and shinier is not better! I like my old phone that doesn’t do much more than calls, texts, and pre-loaded games much better, but it’s not compatible with the new plan so I can’t use it.
