Went down to Provo for the Piebald/MC Chris/Street to Nowhere show Wednesday night. Mostly quite awesome except for the fact a couple of assholes kept yelling at and booing the opening band (Street to Nowhere). These two guys were right in front of the stage, so the band had to have heard it. MC Chris comes out for his set and he is pissed. Decides to cut his set short because of the assholes. “For my encore, I am going to perform…..nothing.” Piebald had a really good set. I had never heard of them before the day of the show, but I really like them.

After the show, we got to meet MC Chris and shake his hand. Awesome! (He’s the “nerd rapper” aka MC Pee Pants on Aqua Teen Hunger Force. Not too long after, we met Travis (lead singer of Piebald) and got his autograph on the band’s new CD. Also very interesting discussion about alternative fuels and such.

Had a fairly light day at the big blue retailer yesterday. Express, garden center, long lunch, then express. No sucks until right at the very end. Brought back a return and was about to head back when I was stopped by this woman who shoved a baby gate that she had pulled from one of the return carts at me and asked how much it was. I apologized and said that I didn’t know, but that the service desk (two feet away) could help her. She gets pissed and says something like “sorry I asked” then throws the gate back in the cart and storms away. I’m quite sorry that I’m a person not a computer. I couldn’t memorize the price of every item in the store and recite it on demand even if I wanted to. I would’ve looked it up myself but it was the end of my shift and the system wouldn’t allow me to sign in on the register. Honestly, how hard is it to walk two feet to the service desk and have them do an item inquiry? There was no line. Or even better, walk about ten feet to the price checker.

Should have been in bed hours ago…. Full force blog tomorrow night/Wednesday-ish.

I finally have a day off tomorrow. Have to write a paper for history and pick up some holds from the library. Alone until sometime in the morning because Daniel went to Wendover tonight with a couple of people. Would have liked to have gone also (blackjack, ftw), but…. *shrugs*.
I’m quite burnt out on retail and the people who patronize the stores. Particularly those who consider employees of said stores to be a lower life form, something not quite human. Unfortunately after tomorrow, my next day off won’t be until Wednesday.

Financial aid is giving me the runaround on the grant I’m supposed to get. I originally applied in September, but dropped to half-time so I didn’t get it. My paperwork was still on file in January until I inquired about the grant’s status. Not too long after, my high school transcript suddenly disappeared. Got those resent, handed it to the financial aid guy and waited. Checked on status again and was informed that I needed to refill out the form. So I did.

Two months later and no award. Talked to the financial aid guy at South Wednesday, who didn’t know anymore than I did. He gave me the number of financial aid at the main campus who in turn gave me the number of R, the scholarship director. Said person was in a meeting that day and off yesterday, so I called back this morning. She knows nothing, and gives me the number of C, with the caution that C is not in today. Meanwhile, a $50 late fee has been added to my balance.

Also on Wednesday, I went to an advisor to see if I could use my ACT score as a replacement for English 1010. At first she says yes, but then changes it to say that I can use it to test into an English course instead of taking their placement test. However, I can only use it to get *into* 1010, not beyond. Entrance into 1010 requires a 20 on reading and english sections. My most recent scores in those areas were 35 and 34 (overall of 31). Not worth paying $7-25 to get the score sent before the two year anniversary of me taking the stupid thing. Was hoping my score would have at least gotten me into intermediate, but no such luck. I do not wish to take freshman english again, and my Centenary credits won’t transfer very well so I have two options (1) take the placement exam (2) Take the “challenge exam”, which if passed, gives me credit for it without having to take it. #2 seems most preferable.

I’m not so sure I want to be a psychology major anymore. Lately I’ve been thinking I want to make history my major and work towards getting a master’s to be able to teach it. I might try to do both….

The clip is from the anti-war march and rally we attended this morning. Daniel and I are shown for a few seconds. He’s holding a sign that says ‘Impeach Bush + Cheney’. I saw the cameraman filming us, but I didn’t know who he was with at the time (local NBC station).

We’re also in a local CBS station video. Daniel got interviewed by them this evening, and I’m in a few shots from the rally (it helped that we were right behind the anchor when he was filming :grin:).
